GLAD I CAME lessons learnt from 2008 and careless perfection
Hello again blogspot,forgive the prolonged absence,i am a free bird searching a dignified destination in this uneventful summer.
cutting the bullshit...i am interning at a fashion cum lifestyle magazine SPICE,it is run by one of the biggest publications group in the country: ITG,(the same owns HARPER'S BAZAAR and COSMOPOLITAN!)more on that later.
I realised that i havent written a fashion issue in ages!and due to the complete shortage of time/procrastination (i swear! if procrastination was karate i would already have a blackbelt) i find myself unable(???) to write a full fledged article about the fashion scene. I particularly wanted to write about Transgendered models on the runway making it big, but since TIME magazine and Fashionistaalready covered it,i will be humble enough not to write about it.I have however found an ancient article i wrote when i was 15 for a Vogue contest,rotting in my email folders..i wish to bring it out of its catacombs (the pictures arent available as this is way back from 2008 and i cant find their folder)

the flavor this season is RECESSIONISTA and thanks to the
Great American fiasco, it is here to stay. Thus recycle and reuse, making the most of everything
You have already got will definitely make you smart yet fashionable. It is of course easier said
Than done.So what to do when you are an avid shopaholic ,have the cash to go on a bender and
Wouldn’t be seen dead in something that’s so yesterday? Obviously you spend!
This year is extraordinary . Last year we had top designer brands like Dior , Christian lacroix
And even Ellie Saab(who is known for his over-the-top embellishments)
Use very subtle colors in their designs.black and white dominated the runways of the
Sao Paolo Fashion Week which is renowned for blasts of color . Evidently the meltdown has
Shown it’s drastic effects here also.This year is poles apart from the last and the recent Paris
Fashion Week proves it.New Wave has made its entry once again and loud and bold reinstate their
reign. Following Obama’s footsteps CHANGE is the new order.
The perfect wardrobe this seoson should consist of goth jackets,attention
seeking coats with the old bumper shoulders , just when you were thinking of chucking those
old harem pants or using them as night pajamas, hold that thought because harem’s have made a
Comeback. Hard metal and leather pants are a favorite still. Get into a tribal mood with wild prints
And invest in gold jwellery. Among the western designers Miu Miu ,Jean Paul Gautier and Stella
McCartney are lighting up the fashion scène otherwise back home it is Shantanu and Nikhil, Malini
Ramani, Rina Dhaka and sabyasaachi bringing twist to the traditional Indian apparel.
The conclusion is that prints have never really gone out of vogue nor has the punk look,thus the
combination of the two spells dynamic and fun. It is therefore a necessary trend ruling the Ramps at Paris and hopefully at the upcoming London fashion week.

PLAYLIST SHARE!
What was i listening to this month and the big news....STEVIE NICKS IS BACK.....hell yaah!
i have absolutely loved spring for the immense relief it brought to my ears,first the Coachella Fest! < no i wasn't lucky enough to be there, but did you watch the COACHELLA LIVETV!, it was such a godsend>. The lineup had me throw a bitchfit ECSTATIC (neon trees, cee lo green, scissor sisters,jimmy eat world ,angus and julia stone....)!!
Here are my top five tracks from the season, all are by female artists (though i hope not to make this into a complete chick blog). They are heaven to listen to and some of them are extremely under rated..seriously they totally need to replace that E.T. crap by Katy Perry and S&M by Rihanna.(why do we even need to go through that torture?)

3. Lykke Li - Youth knows no pain
other fabulous songs by Li are - I follow rivers, Jerome and Dance Dance Dance
4. Adele - Rolling in the deep
I have loved Adele ever since she has been 'chasing pavements' :p, this song just refuses to get out of my head..another reason i include this is because of the beautifully directed video...it is contemporary art with perfect harmony with the music.

its STEVIE NICKS NEW ALBUM 'in your dreams'The song 'Secret Love' as i have heard is the song that couldnt be included in the 70s hit FLEETWOOD MAC album 'Rumours'. I have worshipped Stevie ever since 'edge of seventeen' and 'talk to me'.....and i am loving this new release after what i think is a decade long EXILE! you go Stevie!!
Call it coincidence but a lot /most of the songs mentioned above find their way in OMFGG <Original Music Featured on Gossip Girl >.This is the best playlist in the entire galaxy you would ever stumble upon.I would also recommend glee-soundtrack for covers of timeless music.

Nothing to wear! Really now?
These are your peak years ladies! College/student life is never coming back. Yet each morning as you set yourself to open your dresser, you feel that horrid twist in the pit of your stomach. The hundred garments strewn in all corners of the cupboard fail to satisfy you. You have a major cloth famine…YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!
Full time college students that we are; girls consider us an authority in this subject. Follow the 3Rs of smart dressing: repeat, reinvent and refurbish.
REPEATING:
Remember you are not a big shot celeb or a pop star. Your purse is filled once a month and you are on a tight budget. You can afford to repeat! Nobody judges you by what you wear (at least in the real world). Repeating clothes as long as they are clean and fit you is fine. You are not committing a felony.
REINVENT:
My favorite form of dressing up.=) it is the smallest pieces that make the biggest impact! Just clothes never made a statement. Even the biggest fashion houses had to expand to jewellry, shoes, and bags. Some accessories become even bigger than the clothes. Chanel’s No.5 perfume is an example.
An entire look can be changed depending on your taste for accessorizing. Buy lots of neckpieces, bracelets and head bands. Flea markets offer the widest range in the most affordable prices. Buying a dozen different laces for my converse is one way in which I can reinvent my look each day.
The size of your accessories and their different colors distract attention from your original wardrobe. This is handy while repeating clothes but still maintaining a fresh look! Different hairstyles and nail paint just add an additional panache.
REFURBISH
The one thing that can be refurbished easily is denims. Depending on the color, the type, and washing requirements; your denims can change faces like the moon.
Your oldest pair of jeans could just be cut short and worn to beat the heat also adding to your sexiness. The creative some may also convert them into a bag or simply add patchworks for a more grunge look.
Color your tees again. Just splash some fabric paint and they are ready!
Wear two T-shirts of contrasting colors and create the layering effect! (Note: please avoid looking like a Bella Swan though)
Love the same LBD much? Wear it with different patterned tights. Experiment with shoes or ask mummy to add a little sequin here there. (Remember Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink?)
Additional Tips:
Prepare the entire week’s wardrobe well in advance; say at the weekend, in your mind. This not only avoids the daily struggle with you and your wardrobe, but also saves precious time when you are in a rush.
Divide your clothes according to the different events. Wear only basic clothes to college, keep the uberchic and ultra cool for a special occasion. For home adopt tracks, comfortable tees, and old jeans. Do not confuse your daily wear with clothes you wear at home, such confusion leads to wearing out of the novelty of your clothes and very soon they start boring you too.
Girls bear in mind that this works as long as you work and wear smart. The latest trends and even the most expensive pieces in your collection will fail to turn you into a true fashionista until you carve your own niche and adopt an individual style.
